The process

Step 1.

Counselling

During our initial consultation, we'll engage in a comprehensive discussion to gain insights into your body's needs. Sharing your injury history and current physical condition is crucial for us to tailor our approach effectively.

Step 2.

Posture Analysis

Using posture boards, capturing images to assess your condition, we'll pinpoint key body landmarks, providing a visual representation of your posture for easy understanding.

Step 3.

Release

We choose highly effective release techniques such as the Imphy fascia release stick, Japan PNF Technique Association and Mai’s Ballet-inspired body conditioning technique to mobilize joints too. Reducing tension is key to make our exercises more effective, a fundamental part of the Shisei methods approach.

Step 4.

Exercise

Our Ballet-inspired Pilates based exercise philosophy revolves around activating the appropriate muscle groups to gain control over your body. If we detect any discomfort or suboptimal form, we adjust the exercise intensity accordingly to ensure a safe and effective session.

Step 5.

Review

We assign personalized homework at the end of each session. Through visual assessment using body landmarks and photographs, we track your progress and provide you with a session chart detailing today's activities and your assigned homework. This comprehensive approach allows for a deeper understanding of your body and facilitates faster improvement.

What our clients say

client_say_image_1

I’ve always struggled with my posture in ballet and thought that I would like to give Shisei a try. I was glad to know that there is no hard selling and that there are follow-up/homework that we can do at home (consistency/maintenance is important for me)

I left very satisfied. The first session, was honestly a surprise! Without knowing anything about me, Mai was able to point out where I felt the tightness in my body. She was also able to know the habits I do that caused the imbalance in my posture. And I am very grateful that she shares her knowledge about the body’s anatomy throughout the session.

After every session, I always felt light, at ease and felt that it was easier to move my body. After many sessions, both Mai and myself could feel the difference it made for my body. From superficial tightness release to deep tightness release. There was also a time when I came whilst still recovering from a common cold and had difficulty breathing but after the session, it was much easier to breathe.

To add on, there were a few times when I went to ballet after Shisei. I noticed that I wasn’t corrected about my posture as much as before. I supposed because it was already realigned during Shisei session.

I was practicing yoga and wanted to improve my form, which led me to try ballet. Through that, I discovered Mai’s body conditioning lessons and Shisei.

I'm very satisfied with the session. I always feel much better after getting 'fixed' to proper alignment, and it's great to discover something about my body and habits. The corrective exercises given to re-train which muscles to use are challenging but fun, and I enjoy practising them as homework. Mai is lovely to chat with so it's often a kind of mental release as well.

I was googling for a posture coach after struggling to fix my posture in my own / keep myself honest about that work. Shisei has been a great experience and I feel so much more functional mobility in addition to better posture.

I found Shisei online and decided to come because both my husband and I wanted to improve our posture and mobility.

I am very satisfied with Mai. She does such a great job and makes me feel comfortable. Her instructions are straightforward to follow so I always know what I should do. My pains and aches have improved greatly and I have a much better feeling than when I first began. I know I can come to Mai with any injury and she will help me. She makes me feel better inside and out!
